Jordan Weal will get a chance to kick-start his NHL career with the Philadelphia Flyers.
On Wednesday. the Los Angeles Kings traded Weal and a 3rd round draft pick to Philadelphia for Saskatoon-born defenceman Luke Schenn and veteran forward Vincent Lecavalier.
Weal, who was the Regina Pats 4th leading all-time scorer with 385 points, had been with the Kings since being drafted by them in the 2010 NHL draft, but he could never find his way into a permanent role with the Kings.
He had a breakout year in 2013-14 with the Kings’ affiliate in Manchester, NH, where he recorded 70 points (23 G, 47 A) in 76 games, which was good for fifth in the league.
It is expected he will make his debut with the Flyers on Thursday in Minneapolis.
