The Lead Up
The Pats played a game to forget on Sunday afternoon against the Prince Albert Raiders, a 7-3 loss. The Raiders scored four times on 8 shots in the opening 10 minutes to lead 4-1 and did not look back from there. The Pats got goals from Jared McAmmond, Austin Wagner and Sam Steel in the loss.
The Ice were winners in their last contest Sunday in Swift Current, 3-1 over the Broncos. Jesse Zaharichuk led the way with 2 goals and an assist while Wyatt Hoflin stopped 25 of 26 shots faced in the win.
Williams Added, Cooper Released
The Regina Pats made a roster move on Wednesday. The club acquired overager Brian Williams from the Tri-City Americans and as a result released forward Taylor Cooper. Williams has 7 goals and 20 points so far this season. He will not be in the lineup tonight.
Pats forward Jared McAmmond finally buried his first goal of the season on Sunday against the Raiders. The 18-year-old was snake bitten through the first half of the year but on December 30th against P.A. he picked up his first assist and then on Sunday, again against the Raiders picked up his first goal.
Williams out Again…
Regina Pats captain Colby Williams will miss more time. The 20-year-old from Regina travelled to Edmonton this week to have a follow up procedure on his upper-body injury. He will miss about six week of action. Williams has played just 16 games this year, he has 5 goals and 6 assists and is a plus 3 in those games. Adam Brooks will fill in as captain in his absence.
Brooks named Player of the Week
Regina Pats forward Adam Brooks was recognized for his outstanding play on Monday, being named the WHL Player of the Week. The 19-year-old had 2 goals and 8 assist for 10 points in 4 games played.
