The Regina Pats had a tough 3rd period in Cranbrook on Friday night and lost 5-3 to the Kootenay Ice to kick off their six game road trip.
In the first period both teams put 16 shots on goal and Kootenay picked up the lone goal. Noah Philp poked in a loose puck in the crease for his 3rd of the year at 17:10 and it was 1-0. That was the score after 1.
In the second the Pats dominated and at 14:45 finally tied the game. Connor Hobbs snapped a shot from the point and it beat a screened Wyatt Hoflin for his 11th. The Pats outshot the Ice 18-5 in the period and led 34-21 overall but the game was tied 1-1 heading to the 3rd.
In the final frame the Ice scored four times to the Pats 2 and took the victory 5-3.
The Pats are back in action on Saturday night in Spokane against the Chiefs at 9 o’clock Regina time on 620 CKRM.
