Almost 100 refugees arrived in Saskatchewan on Friday in several large groups.
Majda and her family arrived in Regina to a throng of delegates and well-wishers.
The Regina Chamber of Commerce and the City of Regina handed out mitts and blankets to the newcomers.
Majda says her new gifts aren’t the main defense against the cold.
She says the feeling of being wanted and the heart felt welcome is enough to warm her heart.
For Majda her new home is bittersweet.
She was able to bring her two daughters, aged 26 and 20, and her 16-year old son, but had to leave behind a 20-year old son.
