Veteran CFL kicker Paul McCallum feels Blair Walsh’s pain.
Walsh missed a 27-yard field goal with 22 seconds remaining to hand the Seattle Seahawks a 10-9 NFC wild-card win over the hometown Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
The 46-year-old McCallum says he knows all to well the anguish of missing a game-winning kick in the playoffs.
In 2004 he missed two field goals including a chance for the win in overtime in the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ 27-25 loss to the B.C. Lions in the West Division final.
Afterwards, McCallum received threats from angry fans and his house was pelted with eggs before manure was dumped on his lawn.
McCallum hasn’t missed a playoff field goal attempt since 2004.
