Almost 870-thousand dollars is being budgeted by the City of Regina for the 2016 election.
In a report by City Administration, it would be an increase of 55 percent from the 2012 election.
Erna Hall, Deputy City Clerk says a major reason for the increase is the cost to upgrade technology and equipment.
The software will strengthen communications strategies and streamline the election production process.’
The report will be reviewed by the Executive Committee and then forwarded to the City Council Meeting on January 25.
