Agriculture minister Lyle Stewart has announced seven million dollars in federal-provincial funding for crop-related research in Saskatchewan.
Stewart says the funding will be extended to 40 research projects.
Examples include researching the impact of drought and heat during flowering on canola yield, and, the screening and management of Fusarium Head Blight.
As well, research will look at improving wheat, lentil, faba bean and canaryseed varieties.
Stewart adds producer involvement and funding of the various research projects are critical to the success of the work.
Commodity organizations add another 2.8 million dollars to the research funding.
