The dollar is rising on news the Bank of Canada is keeping its key interest rate steady at 0.5 per cent.
After coming close to falling below 68 cents U-S in overnight trading, the loonie is up about a quarter of a cent, trading at 68.93 cents U-S.
But it’s another day of steep losses on global stock markets due to continuing uncertainty about the Chinese economy.
The Toronto stock market was down about 300 points after an hour of trading.
