The Regina YWCA is kicking off their first official Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser.
The event includes a walk in downtown Regina on February 20, to raise money and awareness for family homelessness in the city.
Melissa Coomber-Bendtsen, CEO for Regina YWCA says homelessness isn’t just an issue for single men.
“It’s children, women and families facing a reality of couch surfing and living in homes with way too many people.”
The YWCA’s My Aunt’s Place homeless shelter helps to house more than 400 women and 200 children a year.
Money raised from the event will go to programming at the YWCA.
