More and more… I appreciate the fact that the 2016 Craven Country Jamboree will go ahead as planned!
I was worried, for a short period, after hearing a few outdoor festivals had cancelled their shows because they could not afford to let “The show go on!”
The lowly loonie is causing more than headaches for concert promoters and talent buyers across the land. Their budgets are getting exhausted and promoters are shifting in to crisis mode and looking for other options…..other than Canada.
You better believe that there are festivals that will not be able to keep their heads above the water and you will see even more festivals fall to the wayside after this summer. Especially the smaller ones.
To pull in acts from the United States this year means costs go up about 40 per cent. Normally a million dollar show (Tim McGraw/George Strait/Keith Urban/etc:) will now cost 1.4 million. That’s a huge amount of money to make up…… on the rest of the overhead.
Not this year, but maybe next we might see an increase in prices at the Craven Country Jamboree, but for now we have to enjoy what we have and appreciate the fact that we “have it”!
