Sentencing for a Regina couple found guilty in the death of a 4 year old girl will be made on March 4.
Sentencing arguments in the trial of Kevin and Tammy Goforth were held on Friday in Regina Court of Queen’s Bench with the Crown asking for a life sentence with no chance of parole for 17 years for Tammy, after she was found guilty of second degree murder, and a life sentence for Kevin with no chance of parole for 7 years after he was found guilty of manslaughter.
Both were also being found guilty of unlawfully causing bodily harm to the child’s younger sister.
The defence asked for parole eligibility after 10 years for Tammy, and for an eight-year sentence on the manslaughter for Kevin.
The defence also told the court both are currently in protective custody after being subject to death threats in jail this week.
The girls, who were living in the care of the couple, were taken to hospital of August 2012 with both being severely malnourished and dehydrated. During the trial, court also heard the pair were restrained at several times.
