Saskatchewan Highway Hotline sent out a string of social media messages Friday morning – all posts saying nearly the same thing: “Travel Not Recommended, Icy or Slippery Sections, Loose Snow, Swirling Snow”
Many routes throughout the province are considered “Travel Not Recommended” and the ministry along with the RCMP are cautioning motorists these conditions exist and can be dangerous for drivers.
Those who may have highway travel plans Friday morning are being advised to check their routes, and perhaps even put off travel until conditions improve.
Some highways are seeing work crews spreading sand, but callers to the 620 CKRM Newsroom are saying it’s not enough to combat the icy conditions.
Environment Canada is calling for sun – but sadly, not until next week.
