The Saskatchewan Goat industry is getting ready for a national identification and traceability program.
The federal government is providing up to 255-thousand dollars to help the goat industry prepare for a mandatory identification requirement.
Ernie Penney of Moose Jaw is past-president of the Saskatchewan Goat Breeders Association.
He expects the mandatory national traceability program will be introduced shortly.
Penney says the program will enable the goat industry to react quickly to any animal health related issue.
