The Regina Pats dropped a 2-1 decision at home to the Red Deer Rebels on Monday morning. Sam Steel scored the Pats lone goal with less than a second left.

Red Deer took the 1-0 lead at 11:30 when Evan Polei put home a rebound for his 15th from Adam Musil and Ivan Nikolishin. The Rebels kept coming and got it to 2-0 when Michael Spacek fed Jake DeBrusk who slid home his 18th at 16:53. Brandon Hagel the second helper. Michael Spacek thought he had the 3-0 goal but Tyler Brown made an unbelievable stick save coming across his crease. In the second the Pats got off to a good start and had two good scoring chances but Austin Wagner was hooked and couldn’t finish and then Cole Sanford missed the net on a breakaway. The Rebels led on the shot clock 13-6 in the period and 25-12 overall.
The Pats return to action on Wednesday when they host the Kootenay Ice at the Brandt Centre at 7 o’clock on 620 CKRM.
