20 communities across the province and 5 community associations are competing to see who can get the most exercise in a 10 day period.
At the midway point of Saskatchewan in motion’s Go Out and Play Challenge, the competitors have logged a total of over 1.3 million minutes of activity. The top community and community association will earn 10 thousand dollars towards a project designed to inspire active outdoor play.
Community Action Leader Kendall Longtin says kids spend on average at least 6 hours screen time a day, such as a TV or a computer, and only spend 6 minutes in nature a day.
The contest wraps up March 10th.
