Kevin Goforth has filed notice with the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal that he wishes to appeal the sentence he was given after being convicted of manslaughter and unlawfully causing bodily harm earlier this month.
The 40 year old was found guilty in the death of a 4 year old girl in the summer of 2012 and the bodily harm of the girl’s two year old sister.
While not appealing the conviction, Goforth is appealing the life sentence with no chance of parole for 14 years he was handed.
Goforth’s wife Tammy who was convicted of second degree murder and unlawfully causing bodily harm is also appealing both her sentence and conviction. She was handed a life sentence with no chance of parole for 17 years.
It is not known when the courts will rule on the appeals and whether or not one or both will be granted.
