I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend! Now we’re back to the 5-day work week!
I wrapped up the last work week in Assiniboia on Thursday. The difference a couple of days make. I couldn’t make it out to Assiniboia on Tuesday due to the highway conditions, while on Thursday, the roads couldn’t have been better!
On the drive out on Thursday morning I noticed there wasn’t a skiff of snow from Moose Jaw to Assiniboia, which I found odd, considering the dump just a couple of days before. That morning I also had a front row seat to see the Snowbirds, albeit my seat was moving at 100/km. hour! The planes were doing all of their aerial maneuvers getting ready for the busy airshow season ahead. I caught myself a couple of times paying too much attention to the Snowbirds and too little attention to the highway. Tough to explain that accident to the boss.
One thing I’ve noticed on the highway coming back to Moose Jaw from Assiniboia are all the “deer jumping” signs. They never seem to end. There’ll be a sign notifying drivers of the possibility of deer for the next 12 km. Then when you’ve gone the 12 km. there’ll be another sign warning you of the same thing for the next 4 km. After that 4 km has ended there’s another sign warning you to watch for deer for the next 8 km. It never seems to end. Why not have a sign with a deer on it that has “forever” printed underneath? That would definitely cut down on the cost of the number of signs needed on that stretch of highway.
I’m back out there for three more days next week. If there’s anything out of the ordinary on that trip, I’ll keep you informed!
