Drowning was the cause of death of a little boy who went missing from his rural home west of Winnipeg.
The body of Chase Martens, who was two, was found Saturday in a creek near the community of Austin.
RCMP say the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death following an autopsy.
The boy’s grieving family says they are heartbroken but have been overwhelmed by the love and support people have shown.
The family has thanked RCMP, the provincial fire commissioner and community volunteers who took part in the search, which began Tuesday when the boy was last seen playing in the yard.
The search involved hundreds of people on foot and horseback, driving ATVs and aircraft.
