There were 112 new cases of the flu last week, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases since September 1st, 2015 to 2,473.
As of mid-January 2015 last flu season, there were 1,159 cases, well above this January’s 29 cases.
The most new cases came in children under 5, followed by children between 5 and 19, seniors 65 and older, and adults ages 20 to 64.
New last week, the southern-most part of the province entered a Level 3 on the flu scale, meaning there were several localized outbreaks. The rest of the province still had sporadic cases.
Two people were admitted into the Intensive Care Unit, bringing that total up to 44.
So far, 8 people have died from influenza.
