The Link Up! program pairs the orchestra with kids from grades three through six for a daytime concert.
Tanya Derkson, Executive Director of the Regina Symphony Orchestra says it’s a way to introduce music to the children.
“It’s just a short little concert, short little excerpt of music with lots of high energy and interaction going on. They’re going to be singing some songs and playing the recorder.”
Gordon Gerrard, Music Director Designate for the Regina Symphony Orchestra says it’s special experience.
“We want to introduce them to what a whole orchestra can do, with 50 or 60 people on the stage, get them into the theatre so they feel what it’s really like to be at a real concert.”
More than 1,500 kids took part in Tuesday’s concert, from three school divisions across the province.
It’s the first-ever program of its kind in Regina.
