Blaine Taypotat’s nine and a half year jail sentence for manslaughter and impaired driving will stand.
The Court of Appeal dismissed Taypotat’s appeal in a Regina courtroom on Thursday.
Taypotat was handed the sentence June 2014 after court heard he was drunk and speeding when he struck and killed Justin Knackstedt on Highway 11 south of Saskatoon in 2013.
Knackstedt, a conservation officer, was helping to direct traffic at the time.
Taypotat’s lawyer was looking for the sentence to be reduced to eight years.
