The Regina Pats and Red Deer Rebels went to the third period of game 7 tied 1-1. The Pats dominated the final frame but gave up the lone goal and lost 2-1.
In the first period the Pats got a good first shift in the offensive zone but on their first change took a too many men penalty just 31 seconds in. They managed to kill it off with the help of the post on a Colton Bobyk point shot. The game was so tight after that. Neither team gave up a lot in the way of scoring chances. Sean Richards had the Pats best chance of the frame when he used a burst of speed to get free in the slot and made a move to the forehand but Rylan Toth stopped him with the right pad. The Rebels got a second powerplay late in the period but again the Pats killed it off and game 7 was scoreless through 20 minutes. The Rebels outshot the Pats 12-7 in the period.
In the second the Pats were afforded two straight powerplays and came close but could not find the games first goal and then they gave Red Deer their third man advantage of the game. In the dying seconds Adam Helewka buried a back door feed from Jake DeBrusk for his 8th. Michael Spacek the second helper at 14:59 and it was 1-0 Rebels. The game stayed that way until the final seconds when on a quick rush Adam Brooks snapped home his 7th from the slot with assists to Lane Zablocki and Colby Williams at 19:47 and it was 1-1, that was the score after 40 minutes. The Pats outshot the Rebels 11-10 in the period but trailed 22-18 overall.
In the third period the Pats flat out dominated but could not buy a goal. The Rebels got a bounce to go their way 12:46 when a puck squirted out from under Tyler Brown into the crease and Adam Musil poked in his 3rd with assists to Evan Polei and Jeff de Witt and it was 2-1. The Pats kept on coming in the final minutes including with the net empty and again their chances just would not go in. The Rebels hold on for a 2-1 win and win the series 4-3. The Pats outshot the Rebels 15-4 in the frame and 33-26 overall.
The Pats powerplay was oh for 2 in the loss and the penalty kill was 2 for 3.
The third star of the game went to the Rebels Adam Musil who had the game winner. The second star to the Pats Adam Brooks who had the Pats lone goal and the first star from the Rebels Rylan Toth who stopped 32 of 33 shots faced.
