The Bird family was given a cheque for $18,450 to be used for the purchase of a wheelchair accessible van.
Ashley Bird’s two children suffer from Friedreich’s ataxia, a degenerative disease that causes damage to the nervous system.
She says she’s beyond thankful to everyone who made donations at the store.
“This will make a huge difference in our lives, we are so grateful for everyone who has been helping us.”
The donations were made by local customers at Crawford’s No Frills grocery store, as part of its President’s Choice Children Charity Program.
