YQR announced the addition of the low-cost Canadian carrier NewLeaf Airline in January, but the airline ran into start up issues just a few weeks after the announcement.
Dick Graham, President of the Regina Airport Authority says YQR is doing well despite the current economy, and is working to attract US carriers.
“We’ve got a great airport, we’ve got a growing clientele, we’ve got passengers that want to go places, so we’ve got a good business case for them to do business with us.”
Passenger count at Regina Airport was down .5 percent in 2015, but it managed to see increases in revenue.
More than 1.25-million passengers traveled through YQR last year.
