The Regina Open Door Society is hosting it’s first annual Job Fair at the Core Ritchie Centre.
People are able to meet some of the best employers in the city, learn about networking opportunities and connect with different professional organizations. There are a total of 35 booths set up at the fair.
Victoria Flores, Employment Services Employer Liason/ Job Developer says this is an important new initiative. “Especially for newcomers who have just moved here and need that space where they can get to know employers, get to know whats out there for them to get in terms of resources to find employment or further their careers.”
Flores says this helps expedite the potential hiring process. “Lots of our clients come with a wide variety of skills in employment training and education. From trades to PhD’s and to all kinds of scientists and all kinds of things . Events like this allow us to make that direct connection to the employer and for those people to talk to the employer about what they have to offer without the intimidating or tough process of approaching one on one at their place of business or sending in a resume.”
While the job fair is primarily for newcomers to Regina and Canada, it is open to the public.
The Job Fair runs until 4 PM on Thursday afternoon.
