Right now in Fort McMurray is in need of help. Over 80,000 people had do evacuate the city as a fire roars through destroying much of the city. The first instinct a person has is to help. It actually reminds me of a bit from book The Martian by Andy Weir,
“Every human being has a basic instinct to help each other out, if a hiker gets lost in the mountains people coordinate a search. If an earthquake levels a city people all over the world send emergency supplies. This instinct is found in every culture with out exception.”
This obviously also applies to the fires as well. I say all of this of course to basically make this next point, there are probably going to be scams. People will regrettably set up scams under claims of trying to help the people from Fort McMurray. The real sad thing is that the only way we ever find out about the scam is that people fall for it and then notify the police. So with that knowledge if you want to donate, which is absolutely perfectly fine, do so through well known organizations.
