Last weekend I stopped by Shoppers Drug Mart to grab a prescription and a couple of other small items. I was standing at the prescription counter, second in line, yakking away with a couple of the people working behind the counter. An older lady came up to the counter and pulled up behind me. I had three items in my hands and she had none, so I stepped back and told her to get ahead of me in line.
We ended up chatting for a few seconds and I found out her name was Priscilla and she was 91 years old! 91! She looked like she was about 70! She told me she still lives on her own and drives herself around. I couldn’t believe it. This gal still had everything. Looking at her I could tell that she must have been quite an attractive woman in her day. Obviously, she’s taken pretty good care of herself over the years. Some people are just a pleasure to talk to, and she was one of them!
My mom turns 82 a week tomorrow and my dad will be 87 on June 9th. They will have been married 66 years on June 10th! Wow. I’m surprised my wife hasn’t killed me yet and we will have been married only 12 years in August! That reminds me. It’s that time of the year to get a few cards sent out.
So, thank you to Priscilla for a wonderfully inspiring conversation. Thank you to my mom and dad for everything. And, finally, thank you to my wife for not killing me yet!
