Numbers from Stats Canada released Friday show there are 10-thousand fewer full-time jobs in Saskatchewan from this time last year.
That has the NDP’s jobs critic speaking out.
Warren McCall says the numbers show the education sector was the hardest hit with 5200 fewer jobs on a year over year basis which is concerning because that is one of the last places where Saskatchewan families should see job losses in.
McCall says this shows the government is not making education a priority as they don’t understand the realities students and teachers face every day.
McCall adds the Saskatchewan Party did little to diversify the economy during a resource boom, and that is coming back to bite Saskatchewan people now as they struggle to make ends meet and plan for their future.
Premier Brad Wall has indicated that while next month’s budget will be a tight one, he does not plan on making cuts in the education sector.
