On Saturday morning, Federal Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Ralph Goodale provided an update on the response to the Fort McMurray wildfire.
The Regina M-P says around 7500 were evacuated on Friday, and 1600 structures have been lost.
The dry conditions has allowed the fire to continue to grow with the latest estimates putting the size of the wildfire at 1,560-square kilometres. To put that into perspective, the fire is 13 times the size of the City of Vancouver.
Goodale says firefighters from across Canada are helping battle the fire.
This includes about 80 from Ontario, around 45 from Quebec and over 20 from New Brunswick.
Alberta officials say the fire could reach the Saskatchewan border by the end of Saturday.
