A meeting between energy executives in the Fort McMurray region and Alberta premier Rachel Notley on Wednesday afternoon will go a long way to determining if we are in for an increase at the pump.
It has been estimated daily oil production in Alberta has been cut in half because of the fire which has forced 80-thousand people out of their homes.
Gasbuddy dot com’s Dan McTeague says that discussion will say a lot about what the immediate future holds, but if the shutdown has an impact on refineries across North America, we could see a jump of 10 cents a litre. He adds that jump would not come immediately because of reserves currently in place.
Gas in Regina is averaging at 93 cents a litre today.
