The former Weston Bakery Building on Hamilton and 8th Avenue is being turned into a multi-use building, which could be open for business by September.
Reid Pedersen, Vice President of property management and development with the All-Rite Group of Companies says they’re looking at making it a shared space for food vendors.
“There’s a variety of things you’re going to stop into, be it the food and beverage, restaurant/lounge aspect, ideally a food market aspect. And then, just some unique retail offerings, art/culture-wise that make it unique and make it a draw to come down to that area.”
He says the space and location has a lot to offer potential renters.
“It’ll be a great enhancement to a neighbourhood that’s really starting to grow and pick up.”
Pedersen says there could be a possibility of condominiums being added to the building in the future, but right now they’re concentrating on bringing in retailers.
Final zoning approval and heritage designation is expected at the City Council meeting on May 30.
