Yesterday afternoon I wrapped up what turned out to be a very busy weekend at the Exchange in Regina. It was the first run off for this year’s Proudly Saskatchewan Showcase and it was a good one!
Seven contestants from all over the province took to the stage to showcase their talents. When I say they came from “all over” the province, they really did. We had contestants from Esterhazy, Saskatoon, Humboldt, Indian Head, and even Air Ronge, a six-hour drive!
The seven contestants were Shelby Bell, Roland Corrigal, Ray Whitton, Travis Hiebert, Aaron Rigden, Cassie Tomolak. and Kara Golemba.
This year’s judges, Lorena Kelly, Ted Gross, and Jeff Dedecker had their mitts full at the end of the performances, but had to pick three that would move on to the final at Casino Regina on June 4th. Those three were, Ray Whitton, Kara Galemba, and Roland Corrigal. Roland is the one who drove 6 hours all the way from Air Ronge!
Congratulations too all who took part.
That was just the beginning. Our second and final run off goes Sunday, May 29th at the Exchange. Then it’s the final at Casino Regina, which will feature a performance by the Hunter Brothers. Everyone who comes to the final on June 4th will be in for a draw for tickets to see Garth Brooks in Saskatoon!
Come out and support some great local talent. There’s a lot of it out there!
