People across Regina will be participating in the 3rd-annual Chair-Leaders “Enabling Access” Day Wednesday.
Chair-Leaders will be raising awareness and funds for Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan by spending the morning in wheelchairs at work.
Chair-Leaders conduct day-to-day activities at work while swapping their desk chairs for wheelchairs.
Imagine getting a coffee from the coffee pot on the counter, manoeuvring your way past people, or getting in and out of elevators.
Many Chair-Leaders have said “it is a great learning experience.”
“Spending time bound to a wheelchair makes you aware of how difficult things can be. Moving around, reaching for items, getting through doors, carrying items from one place to another–all are things that able-bodied people don’t think twice about, but when you’re in a wheelchair you have to plan and improvise.” ~2015 Chair-Leader Jennifer Gelsinger, RE/MAX Crown Real Estate North
Executive Director Lyn Brown says they will find there are things they take for granted.
Inclusive communities is the goal for Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan.
