Souls Harbour Rescue Mission has set a high goal for itself: 5000 pounds of food by June 20th – which is the first day of summer.
But it’s a necessary goal according to the mission’s Patty Humphreys who says the spring and summer months are generally low when it comes to donations.
Three Sherwood Co-op stores partnering with with Souls Harbour for this campaign.
On June 1st, the kick-off BBQ at Rochdale Sherwood Co-op was held and 75 pounds of of food was raised in one day.
There donation barrels at all three Co-op locations in the city until June 20th,

Look for Souls Harbour Rescue Mission staff to be on site at the three Co-op stores on three Fridays this month (June 3, 10 & 17) to give out shopping lists to Co-op customers and to engage them in more meaningful way.
Here is what Souls Harbour needs:
- canned tomatoes (all kinds)
- pasta sauces
- powdered creamer
- canned fruit
- canned vegetables
Spring and Summer tend to be a time where donations drop, but the need at Souls Harbour Rescue Mission doesn’t.
Meals are served throughout the summer at the soup kitchen, men’s & women’s emergency shelters, women’s addiction program and daycare.
This food drive is to help stock the shelves for the summer season.
Souls Harbour Rescue Mission has been in operation 26 years in Regina.
Over 1.6 million meals have been service, along with clothing and nights of emergency shelter.
Participants in our addiction programs have received more than 70,000 hours of class time and over 2,000 counselling sessions.
