Saskatchewan school divisions tabled three confirmed losses in the second quarter of their fiscal year.
The biggest was an employee of the Regina Roman Catholic Separate School Division. The report says the employee received compensation at a level of pay that was not supported by qualifications. The employee did not disclose the over-compensation from 1989 to 2015 and was given $164,119 more than he should have. The employee has been fired and the school division is making efforts to get the money back.
Another employee was fired from the Regina Roman Catholic Separate School Division for making personal purchases on a school division credit card totaling $2,679. Again the employee was terminated and the division is working to get the funds back.
The last loss reported was by the Conseil des écoles fransaskoises. An employees home was broken into and a school laptop was stolen, worth $1,400. The theft was reported to police.
The report covers the second quarter of the 2015-16 school division fiscal year, December 1, 2015 to February 29, 2016.
