SaskPower is celebrating Environment Week by giving away free Green Ash tree seedlings for a 20th straight year.
The trees are available at the SaskPower customer service offices on Victoria Avenue while supplies last.
The seedlings are courtesy the Shand Greenhouse, which uses some of the waste heat from the power station near Estevan to grow tree and shrub seedlings which are then planted across the province by non-profit organizations.
Since 1992, the SaskPower Shand Greenhouse has cultivated more than 10 million shrubs and tress, enough to naturally capture about 830,000 tonnes of carbon from the environment.
The seedlings are available at SaskPower customer service offices in North Battleford, Prince Albert, Regina, Saskatoon and Yorkton while supplies last.
