Well, it’s been the yearly card barrage at the Lewis household which happens in May and June of every year. I buy more cards during those two months than I do the rest of the year.
First up in May, it’s a birthday card and Mother’s Day card for my mom. Her birthday is the 13th and Mother’s Day is always right around that time. Many times they’ve actually fallen on the same day over the years.
Then in June it’s all about dad. Yesterday, my dad celebrated his 87th birthday and today my mom and dad celebrate their 66th anniversary. How don’t care how you cut it, that’s a long time. Then, of course, a week Sunday is Father’s Day. I got all three cards out for those occasions last week. So far so good. Nothing’s come back yet.
A couple of years ago I got one of the cards I sent to my mom dropped back into my mailbox for insufficient postage. I’d never had that happen before. I put another stamp on it and mailed it off. If finally arrived at my parents house, albeit a few days late. Hey mom, honestly, I didn’t forget!
The rest of the year my card purchases are few and far between. For the next couple of months my trips to the drug store are strictly for prescriptions!
