Police were dispatched to a report of a break and enter in progress at about 12:13 a.m. on Friday at Mosaic Stadium. When police arrived, they found security staff, who had a teenage boy in their custody. Officers then learned there was likely another suspect still in the stadium and continued search led to an arrest of a second teenage boy.
Police learned one of the boys was in possession of keys stolen in a break-in, earlier that night in the 1100 block of Albert Street. Investigation into both events led to charges against the two youths.
The teenage boys cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The 14-year old is charged with:
Attempt Break and Enter [348(1)(a) CC]; Break and Enter and Commit Theft [348(1)(b) CC] and Possession of Property by Crime [355(b) CC]
The 13-year old is charged with:
Attempt Break and Enter [348(1)(a) CC]; and Break and Enter and Commit Theft [348(1)(b) CC]
Both youths made appearances in Youth Court on Friday.
