“This is not going to be implemented until January 1, 2019 now. It’s two and a half years out from now, as opposed to where they were originally on January 1, 2017. So we have an additional two years for the economy to come back, to rebound, to provide more strength in the economy with a much slower phased in period.”
Under the agreement, an average Canadian worker earning about $55,000 will pay an additional $7 a month in 2019. That would increase to $34 a month by 2023.
