Yesterday afternoon I had to make my way out east to my dentist’s office. It was teeth cleaning time. I usually book my appointment for 11 so I can head there right after work without too much of a wait. I did have an appointment booked for this morning, but I had to change it because I was double booked. I scheduled my vehicle in for today to get some shiny new tires put on and it wasn’t until I got home from booking the appointment Monday that I realized realized that the two times were overlapping. Duh!
I hate driving anywhere out east unless it’s first thing in the morning. I just don’t have the patience. The odd Sunday afternoon my wife will ask if I want to go to Costco. “Ya, right,” is my usual reply.
With all of the road construction happening on Victoria Ave., I decided to come up with an alternate game plan. I decided to take Arcola to University Park Drive to circumvent the construction area and it worked to a tee!
I got to my dentist about 25 minutes early, and believe it or not, got in for my cleaning 10 minutes early! I can’t remember the last time that happened, but I loved it.
This Friday I’m off to Yorkton to broadcast from the Yorkton Auction Center. Guess which road I’ll have to take? I just can’t seem to stay away from Victoria Ave. this week. I hate traveling through the “High Collision Corridor.” There is something inherently wrong with a speed limit of 80 on the Trans-Canada Highway. The funny thing is, I seem to be the only guy doing the speed limit. Drivers still pass me like I’m standing still when I’m on that stretch of highway!
The main trouble on Victoria Ave. seems to be coming in to the city from the east. Think that’ll be backed up Friday afternoon at about 5? I’ve already started on an alternate route for that trip as well!
Wish me luck.
