Yesterday afternoon, while I was waiting to get new tires put on my vehicle, I decided to make my way into Costco and take a look around. It was kind of a pre-planned trip and my wife asked me to pick up a couple of things if I ran across them.
When I got to the entrance and flashed my Costco card a lady working the exit said “Hi Jamie Lewis.” I had a look and didn’t recognize her, but I stuck my head around and said hi back. Her name was Marian and she told me that she listens to the show everyday. Very nice to hear! Then she introduced me to a few other ladies working around the entrance area, all of whom listen to the station as well. After the greetings were done I made my way into the store with no idea where I was headed.
I decided I’d start in the area my wife had asked me to check out. Fortunately, I couldn’t find what she was looking for. I really didn’t want to buy anything because I didn’t know how long it would take to get the tires on my vehicle and I didn’t feel like toting around a bunch of stuff while I was waiting. I ran into so many people that I knew that I actually kept count. It was 8! This was at 1 on a Wednesday afternoon. Doesn’t anybody work on Wednesday?
Although I didn’t find what my wife wanted, I did end up grabbing some K-cups for our Keurig machine. My wife loves Kirkland coffee, so I grabbed a box of 100 K-cups for $40. That was a good enough deal that I didn’t mind carrying that box with me for the next 45 minutes.
I could have easily spent a few hundred bucks yesterday on a whole bunch of stuff that I really didn’t need. If my vehicle had of been in the parking lot I definitely would have bought a few more things.
So, I made my way out of the store with my box of coffee in hand and straight to Marian, who was still checking receipts at the door. Before I made it through, she introduced me to another couple of ladies who listen to the show everyday. We should hire Marian as our promotion lady. She sure did a great job of that yesterday.
It was a great afternoon. Brand new tires for my vehicle and I actually made it out of Costco with only a $40 box of coffee.
I can’t remember the last time I made it out of that store with only $40 missing from my wallet!
