Thousands of people in several Saskatoon neighbourhoods are under a drinking water advisory after a construction contractor damaged a large water main.
Homes and businesses in the city’s northeast are affected by the advisory, which was issued Monday afternoon when a main in a private development was punctured, resulting in significant depressurization.
People are urged to boil water before it’s consumed.
The city has been conducting water quality tests and computer modelling is being done to determine the extent of the area affected.
Home and business owners can fill water jugs at an area fire hall from city water trailers, and bottled water will be made available for people who require extra support.
The advisory is expected to be in place until at least Thursday.
