StatsCan says Saskatchewan farmers planted a second record area to lentils this year.
This years area of 5.3 million acres is almost 43 per-cent larger than last year’s record.
Canola acreage is up 2 per-cent at 10.9 millon acres.
Barley and field peas are up about 3 per-cent, with barley acreage at 2.5 million acres and peas at 2.2 million acres.
The spring wheat area dropped 12 per-cent to 7 million acres, the third consecutive decline.
Durum has been planted on five million acres, unchanged from last year but 18 per-cent higher than the five year average.
Oats is down 19 per-cent.
Flax drops 44 per-cent after four straight years of increases.
Canaryseed acreage is down 20 per-cent.
