The City of Regina is reminding residents to be fire safe this Canada Day.
The city is reminding residents recreational fireworks can not be set off within city limits and it is illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to purchase them.
Firecrackers are prohibited within city limits, as well as the launching flying lanterns/sky lanterns.
When it comes to fire pits, they can only be used between 12 P.M. and 1 A.M.
Fire inspectors monitor complaints and can issue tickets carrying a base fine of $300 for City Fire bylaw violations.
Last year, Regina Fire and Protective Services handled 150 complaints about fire pits.
The City of Regina is also asking people to be safe when using their barbecues.
The City says careless cooking, including cooking on a barbecue, is Regina’s leading cause of fire.
