It surely has to be the time of year when people are crawling through your fence line to sneak Saskatoon Berries from the bushes.
Are you still from “clan” berry picker – that would be loading up and heading out in the heat of July to crawl all over to the hills and valleys to gather the delights.
Put them in pies, tarts, in smoothies and over cinnamon buns – add them to ice cream and salads. They’re oh so good.
Saskatoon berries, a lot of work for not much payoff – which means they can be very expensive. (But they are sooo good.)
On the Flea Market someone called, they refused to go public with their product. Canned Saskatoon Berries – just make the crust and pop it in the oven, your set! Oh that sounds and smells (can’t you almost smell the crust cooking) so good!
Sounds pretty simple doesn’t it. However, not sure if I want processed berries – would rather have them raw and juicy.
So, tell me – where’s your Saskatoon patch! Happy picking.
