Quarterback Darian Durant was at Saskatchewan Roughriders practice on Tuesday but it was back-up Mitchell Gale who ran the offense in the 90-minute walk-through leading us to believe Gale will get the start Friday at home against Ottawa (7:00 pm, 620 CKRM Rider Radio Network).
Durant was injured in Saturday’s 40-27 loss to BC however he believes the injury is not long-term. Durant stood beside Mitchell Gale in the pocket on Tuesday, assisting him with the offense. The assumption is Gale will start on Friday and Durant will dress.
After practice Riders Head Coach and GM Chris Jones said it’s “unlikely” Durant will start on Friday.
Jones also confirmed Canadian receiver Kris Bastien practiced with the team on Tuesday.
If Mitchell Gale starts on Friday, it’ll be his first career CFL start.
