A low pressure system will be moving through the province and is expected to bring rainfall overnight and through Saturday
Environment Canada is predicting the Hudson Bay area could receive general accumulations of 40-50 mm with higher amounts locally where convective activity occurs. The system is expected to taper off to about 20-30 mm in the Melfort area.
Given the recent precipitation event in this area conditions on the ground are still fairly saturated. A streamflow response is expected if the accumulations predicted materialize. Some localized flooding and out of bank flows may occur if the convective activity results in higher accumulations in localized regions.
Convective activity within these weather systems are impossible to predict but can contribute large amounts of rainfall in a short time period causing localized flooding issues.
The Water Security Agency will be monitoring this event and issue updates as needed.
