Government relations minister Jim Reiter says the province is closely monitoring an oil spill on the North Saskatchewan River and its impact on local communities.
Reiter says he fully expects Husky oil to cover costs associated with the clean-up and its aftermath.
He says the province is at the stage of an emergency response to ensure communities receive adequate water supplies.
Reiter says Husky has said it will cover the cost of the spill and he expects the company to follow through.
Prince Albert and North Battleford are the largest communities affected by the oil spill.
