The General Manager of Agrium’s Vanscoy Mine says operations have been suspended after an accident that occurred around 2:45 a.m., on Monday.
Todd Steen says an employee was caught between two pieces of equipment and sustained very serious injuries.
Steen did not identify the worker nor did he provide an age for the injured employee. The company would only say the individual who was hurt worked underground. As well, Steen cited an on-going investigation in reference to identifying the equipment involved.
Steen says local emergency services arrived quickly on site to transport the employee to Saskatoon hospital. The injured worker’s family is currently at the hospital with him and Steen says the company is awaiting updates on his condition.
