Construction at the Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan is underway again after a fatal accident on site last month.
On July 21st 21 year old Eric Ndayishimiye died when a steel construction lift fell on him.
Colin Anderson, Vice President Buildings for the project says they have conducted a comprehensive safety review and have the support of the Saskatoon Health Region to restart.
Since the accident, the type of lift involved has been taken out of service.
Workers have also been provided access to counselling.
Last October, a safety committee was established after a forklift crashed through a window at Royal University Hospital.
President and CEO of the Saskatoon Health Region Dan Florizone says all of the recommendations from that committee were adopted.
However, he said after last month’s accident, “unfortunately, it’s not safe enough, and that is reflected by the tragedy.”
